Join us Sunday, 9/12, 3-5pm for a butterfly pinning workshop taught by Ginny Mason, owner and artist behind Fowl Art Taxidermy Services. This workshop focuses on rehydration, pinning techniques, wing positioning, and simple display methods of ethically-sourced butterflies. Each participant will learn basic biology and anatomy of butterflies and their life cycles, then learn the process of collecting, rehydrating and pinning insects, and will be able to pin a specimen of their choice.
Participants will also be provided with a butterfly already pinned and dried ahead of time, and will take home a specimen to practice rehydrating and pinning at home. Participants will decorate a shadow/display box for their butterflies with dried flowers and other materials. All attendees go home with a workbook and access to an online course on insect pinning.
